¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® 10-City Tour Announced

Events celebrate culture, support families in making good nutrition and movement a daily part of life, and deliver life-saving health screenings

Washington, DC – This Saturday, March 24, 2012, the National Alliance for Hispanic Health kicks off the 2012 ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® 10-event series in Phoenix, Arizona. For the second straight year, Newman's Own Foundation joins the Health Foundation for the Americas as national supporter of this unique event series, which brings health and wellness programming to Hispanic communities.

"The support we are receiving from Newman's Own Foundation will allow us to serve 20,000 people at community family health events around the country, said Dr. Jane L. Delgado, President and CEO of the National Alliance for Hispanic Health, the nation's leading Hispanic health advocacy group, and author of The Latina Guide to Health and Buena Salud® guide series.

"We are also able to make a difference because of the commitment of over 300 partner organizations and thousands of extraordinary volunteers who believe in the power of culture, family, and community." The events feature life-saving health screenings; access to healthy food options, such as farmer's markets; and opportunities for physical activity and sports.

"We are proud to support the National Alliance for Hispanic Health," said Robert Forrester, president of Newman's Own Foundation. "One of the Foundation's priorities is the support of nonprofits whose focus is on nutrition, and they are doing great work in advancing the health and wellness of our nation's communities."

¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® events are free, and all participants are provided with the opportunity to register for the National Alliance for Hispanic Health's Buena Salud™ Club. This free membership club is designed to promote healthy lifestyles by providing year-round reliable and confidential health information and provider referrals. Upon activating their membership by calling 1-866-783-2645, members will receive one of the Buena Salud™ guide books for free. This family health book series, focusing on a variety of health topics including heart disease, diabetes, depression, and arthritis, is available in bookstores and online booksellers nationwide.

The kick-off ¡Vive tu vida! Get Up! Get Moving!® event will be held March 24, 2012, at John R. Davis Elementary School at 6209 S. 15th Avenue in Phoenix, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
