The Alliance brings a new kind of leadership
to bear on health care by implementing effective and innovative
services through the Alliances four program centers:
Consumers; Providers; Science and Policy; and, Technology.
Reaching millions with credible health information.
The Center for Consumers meets these challenges by reaching
all Hispanics with current and culturally proficient information
about health and human services. The work of the Center builds
on the commonalities that exist among Hispanics while allowing
sufficient flexibility to incorporate the unique circumstances
of each community, i.e., different countries of origin, different
state and local health infrastructure, and variations by generation,
income, and legal status. Recognizing that health needs transcend
borders, the Center for Consumers works with colleagues throughout
the Americas to learn about and share the best approaches
for health education and consumer empowerment.
Support providers in their efforts to
deliver quality services.
The Center for Providers focuses on developing partnerships
with organizations to implement new ways to support providers
and professionals with effective methods for serving Hispanics.
The Alliance is the common meeting ground for health and human
service providers, professionals, and consumers grappling
with evolving systems of care.
Improving the science base and promoting
scientific research.
Supporting new models of research to understand the Hispanic
health experience is a central goal of the Center for Science
and Policy. The Center promotes innovative and culturally
proficient research, supports Hispanic scientists as well
as youth interested in science, advocates for increased attention
to Hispanic health research, and communicates new developments
in science to our constituents. These efforts ensure that
consumers benefit from cutting edge science to inform their
personal health decisions, and that health providers have
the best science to deliver the best care to their patients.
Promoting the appropriate use of technology.
Managing the balance of technology, information access, and
patient confidentiality are just a few of the areas the Alliance
monitors and represents on behalf of Hispanic communities
and their concerns. The Center for Technology covers a broad
range of technological advances from embracing the use of
emerging technologies in community settings, to issues raised
by the increasingly complex decisions related to the use of
technologies in end-of-life situations.
